sister shoot

so, i did a photoshoot for two of my best friends, heather & hannah.
they are so close that we decided it would be a "sister shoot"
& they just so happened to be wearing almost matching outfits that day.
so it worked out perfectly.
first we went to these railroad tracks,
they arent used anymore & they are very beautiful.
next we went on a hike, & we found a stream.
we took photos there for a long while.
& on the way back from the hike, we found these huge dandilions,
& lots of other gorgeous flowers.
i hope you enjoy these pictures.

park city weekend & mary

i had a huge blessing over the past weekend
i got to spend the night in lovely park city
with my sister, one of my best friends, and my mom.
it was so much fun.
there was lots of good food, good company,
picture taking, guitar playing, hot-tubbing,
smiling, singing, laughing, jesus,
and just being us.
so here are some photos of our little trip,
and some photos that i took of the lovely mary,
that we had taken on our trip.

photography class.

for photography class i had to "mimic" a historical photographer's style.
i chose Arnold Genthe. his photos are very soft and are in black and white usually.
above are the ones that i took for class.
below are some of his photos.

i think i did pretty good.

an old stack of cds.

"this stack of cds on the desk next to me
would sound better if i were with you
all the sad movies would make me feel happy
if i were sitting on the couch next to you
oh next to you
i'd be in love again"

(picture from tumblr, lyrics from a song i forgot the name of. enjoy.)

slow your speed. turn yourself around.

"On a ladder from there to here I'll climb
All this clatter between my ears I find
Does it matter if I can't clear my mind
                                           There's a right and a wrong time

                                                          Woe is me
                                           Sentimental you and faithful me
And I will be the one to gaze on you
                                                           Discreetly"

{the ladder -- andrew belle}

also, this is my best friend jake. he is awesome. i wasn't going to post this picture anywhere because i thought it was too fuzzy and grainy, but then my dad told me that it was cool and interesting and unusual. so i did. haha.

let the wind blow..

today has been quite fun.
i spent the morning at church, the afternoon at coffee,
and the last couple of hours finding new music and being lazy.

some new and notable bands that i've found are:
arbor
fox & fair
the high jump heart
the lighthouse & the whaler
she said save me
yellow red sparks
the mighty sequoyah

you should give them all a look.
they are all incredible.

hope you're having a lovely day!

city love...

"cause it's way too hard counting sheep in this wrecking yard,
and i almost see your face on the tv screen.
the statistics rearranged, forgotten faces in the picture frames,
and i've forgotten what its like to fall asleep."

i remember you remembering, do you?

if you haven't heard of Tyler Knott Gregson, you haven't lived.

he is the best poet i have ever read. and he uses a typewriter to print his poems, and scans them, and puts them on instagram. (his username is tylerknott)

below i wrote out one of his recent poems, because i love it. it's only a little part of it, because it was super long. so if you want to see the whole thing, just go to his instagram or google him or something. (stalker.)

"do you remember the time i told you that there's
more to life than waiting for death to stop
crossing her t's and dotting her i's and checking
her list and checking it twice to finally get our
names? i remember the time i told you that we've
got two hands but one is for holding mine and
what you choose to do with the other determines
the who and the how of what you'll become.
squeeze it tighter now and whisper into my ears
what you want and i swear on the bones that were
made strong when milk did my young body good, that
i will break them all into dust and chalk powder
just to bring you what you need.
mention it, just mention that you like the smell
of new water on old earth, and i will give you the
rain. take down your hair and i will become the
wind and do nothing with my days but play in it...
i remember you remembering. do you?"

its pretty amazing, huh? yeah.

diy personalized journal

hi! i came up with this idea how to transform plain journals and planners from being boring and unusable, into something super cute and super easy to make, and once i tried it (and it turned out awesome..) i thought i would share it with you!

all you need is...
a plain journal (it can be paperback, hardcover, leather, ect.)
old postcards, envelopes, vintage typewriter paper, ect.
mod podge
scissers, glue stick, paint brush (not shown)

first see if one of your envelopes or whatever you're using fits the cover of your journal nicely. if it doesn't, you will have to cut it down to size. mine did.

next cut it into strips. this was extremely nerve-wracking for me because i only have a few of these old envelopes and i didn't want to ruin any of them. just be brave and do it.

heeeeyyyy lookie its my strips of envelope wahooo

next put glue on the strip you want to go on the top part

okaaay now glue all of them and put them all on. they don't have to be perfectly aligned or anything. see mine, its all like, everywhere. and i like it like that.

now put some mod podge on there. and then spread it around with a paint brush.

now just wait for it to dry and it's done! see below for finished project (i did it like 3 times.. hahah)

i covered my planner with postcards... and i didn't realize this until it was done, but the cover was clear. so it made the cool backside of the postcards on there. i love it.

i made two journals and a planner. (:

the edges kinda curled on this one. but that's okay. it gives it character.

hope you enjoyed this quick little tutorial!
